Thundercats debuted in 1985, produced by LJN to accompany the popular TV cartoon of the same name, by Rankin-Bass. While the toy line would last three years, it was rather small, and distribution was not as broad as some of the other action figure toy lines of the time. Despite this, the toys remain popular in the adult collector market.

The Thundercats figures are roughly six inches tall and made of plastic and hard rubber. Most have articulation at the hips, shoulders, and neck, as well as an action feature that makes the character attack with its weapon. LJN branded this as “Battle-Matic Action”, a term they used with some of their other toy lines such as AD&D. Two of the figures had light-up eyes triggered by pressing a battery-containing finger ring into their backs, while some others included PVC figurines of smaller companions from the show.

The line also expanded to include smaller articulated figures of allies and companions, as well as vehicles, monsters, and weaponry add-ons. The series' capstone was the Cat's Lair Playset, a massive playset that used electronic lights and sounds with special receptors to simulate a laser battle with an attacking enemy vehicle. Individual figures could also be armed with battery-operated backpacks for a similar play pattern.

The vehicles were similarly replete with action features. A common design trait was that the vehicles' back ends can function as convenient handgrips during play, placing triggers and buttons for action features at the user's fingertips while they “fly” or roll the vehicle along. This rather inventive feature did not disrupt the aesthetic of the toys, since the science-fiction look simply incorporated the long-boom tails.

By 1987 the line had lost its steam and was unsupported by an ongoing TV cartoon. The third series only saw a smattering of new characters, many of whom became quite scarce due to lack of retailer interest in carrying the dying toy line. Thundercats would disappear from pop culture radar for decades, until a resurgence in popularity in the early 2000s would trigger a great deal of spinoff “retro” merchandise, culminating in the cartoon and toy line being resurrected in 2011 by Bandai.

Transformers: Coming in January 2024. you can preorder!

Transformers is a media franchise produced by American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy. It primarily follows the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two alien robot factions at war that can transform into other forms, such as vehicles and animals.

The franchise encompasses toys, animation, comic books, video games and films. As of 2011, it generated more than ¥2 trillion ($25 billion) in revenue, making it one of the highest grossing franchises of all time.

The franchise began in 1984 with the Transformers toy line, comprising transforming mecha toys from Takara's Diaclone and Micro Change toylines rebranded for Western markets. The term "Generation 1" covers both the animated television series The Transformers and the comic book series of the same name, which are further divided into Japanese, British and Canadian spin-offs, respectively. Sequels followed, such as the Generation 2 comic book and Beast Wars TV series, which became its own mini-universe

Generation 1 characters underwent two reboots with Dreamwave Productions in 2001 and IDW Publishing in 2005, with a third starting in 2019. There have been other incarnations of the story based on different toy lines during and after the 20th century. The first was the Robots in Disguise series, followed by three shows (ArmadaEnergon, and Cybertron) that constitute a single universe called the "Unicron Trilogy".

live-action film series started in 2007, again distinct from previous incarnations, while the Transformers: Animated series merged concepts from the G1 continuity, the 2007 live-action film and the "Unicron Trilogy". For most of the 2010s, in an attempt to mitigate the wave of reboots, the "Aligned Continuity" was established. In 2018, Transformers: Cyberverse debuted, once again, distinct from the previous incarnations.

Although initially a separate and competing franchise started in 1983, Tonka's GoBots became the intellectual property of Hasbro after their buyout of Tonka in 1991. Subsequently, the universe depicted in the animated series Challenge of the GoBots and follow-up film GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords was retroactively established as an alternate universe within the Transformers multiverse.

O my! GI Joe and Transformers unite!

He-Man:

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (often referred to simply as He-Man) is an American animated television series produced by Filmation based on Mattel's toy line Masters of the UniverseThe show was one of the most popular animated shows of the 1980s.

It made its television debut in September 1983 and ran until 1985, consisting of two seasons of 65 episodes each. Towards the end of the show's original run, it spawned one feature length theatrical movie He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword, which served as the introduction for the show's spinoff literal sister series She-Ra: Princess of Power. Reruns continued to air in syndication until 1988, at which point USA Network bought the rights to the series. USA aired He-Man until September 1990. The success of the toy based show in syndication greatly influenced other animation houses to produce half hour "cartoon commercials", and considerably changed the syndicated cartoon market.

The franchise has been adapted many times in comic book and comic strip form, and a live-action film was produced in 1987. A rebooted series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, renamed Masters of the Universe vs. The Snake Men during season 2, released on Toonami on August 16, 2002. Two continuation series were released in 2021 for Netflix: one is Masters of the Universe: Revelation for an adult audience and another is a family-oriented animated CGI revival, also titled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

The series takes place on Eternia, a planet of magic, myth and fantasy. Its lead character is Prince Adam, the young son of Eternia's rulers, King Randor and Queen Marlena. Whenever Prince Adam holds the Sword of Power aloft and proclaims "By the Power of Grayskull! I have the power!” he is endowed with "fabulous secret powers" and transformed into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. Together with his close allies, Battle Cat (who undergoes a similar transformation from being Adam's cowardly pet tiger Cringer), The SorceressTeela, Man-At-Arms and Orko, He-Man uses his powers to defend Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor. Skeletor's main goal is to conquer the mysterious fortress of Castle Grayskull, from which He-Man draws his powers. If successful, Skeletor would have enough power to rule all of Eternia and possibly the entire universe.

TNT- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (initially known as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in some European countries) is an American animated television series produced by Fred Wolf films, and based on the Comic book characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Set in New York City, the series follows the adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their allies as they battle the Shredder, Krang, and numerous other villains and criminals. The property was changed considerably from the darker-toned comics, to make it more suitable for children and the family.

The pilot was shown during the week of December 14, 1987, in syndication as a five-part miniseries, and the show began its full-time run-on October 1, 1988. The series ran until November 2, 1996, when it aired its final episode. The show was the first television appearance of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and helped launch the characters into mainstream popularity, becoming one of the most popular animated series in television history. Action figuresbreakfast cerealsplush toys, and other merchandise featuring the characters appeared on the market during the late-1980s and early-1990s, and became top-sellers worldwide. By 1990, the series was being shown daily on more than 125 television stations.

Characters from the show have been included in crossovers with later entries of the franchise, including the 2009 film Turtles Forever and cameos in the 2012 tv series.

The origins story in the 1987 television series deviates significantly from the original Mirage Studios comics. In this version, Splinter was formerly human, an honorable ninja master named Hamato Yoshi who studied art history as a hobby. He was banished from the Foot Clan (a Japanese dynasty of ninjas founded by one of his distant ancestors) after one of his students, the power-hungry and seditious Oroku Saki (who resented Yoshi's leadership within the clan and aspired to usurp him), set him up for an offense against a visiting master sensei. Disgraced, Yoshi was forced to leave his native Japan and relocate to New York City, where he began living in the sewers with the rats as his only friends. Saki was given command of the Foot Clan, which he corrupted and transformed into a criminal organization.

G.I. Joe is a line of military-themed dolls and action figures created in 1964 by Hasbro, a toy company in Rhode Island.

The first G.I. Joe was marketed as an "action soldier," even though it shared many features with Mattel's Barbie doll.

It was 12 inches tall, had poseable joints, and came with different outfits and accessories.

It initially sold well, but sales dropped as support for the Vietnam War decreased. In response, Hasbro introduced the "G.I. Joe Adventure Teams" in 1969.

Throughout the 1970s, there were various attempts to modernize the toy line, but sales continued to decline. Eventually, the line was discontinued in 1978.
